WING MEET Vol2 - SEVILLE24

WING Meet Vol.2: Flying High in Skydive Spain By Jack Peploe

In December 2024, wingsuit flyers from across Europe, and beyond, gathered for the second WING Meet, hosted by Piotr Walasek at Skydive Spain in Seville. Piotr, also known for his work with WSpoint, created the perfect setting for a week long event full of camaraderie, dynamic flying, and the kind of memories that make you grin on the flight home.

I only made it out for four of the five days but still managed to squeeze in 20 incredible jumps. This just speaks to the relaxed yet productive vibe of the event no pressure, just pure wingsuit fun with some seriously skilled flyers. Speaking of which, participants represented a real European mix (and beyond): Latvia, Holland, Spain, Poland, Estonia, France… and, well, not the UK. Sadly, I was reminded again - that the UK is no longer part of Europe. Thanks, Brexit. But hey, I’ll save the politics for another day.

Big Suits, Big Formations, and Bigger Smiles

The event primarily focused on big suit flying, with most attendees sporting Squirrel's Freak or Creature wingsuits. Both suits are insanely capable and allowed us to effortlessly execute some beautifully dynamic formations. The format of the event was brilliant: relaxed flying with a rotating base to lead formations and ample opportunity for everyone to contribute to the flight plans. It wasn’t just about following the leader, it was about collaboration, which made for some impressive formations and creative flying.

We flew a range of setups, from 270 degree formations to single line stacks and complex stacked V formations. What really took the experience up a notch was adding mid-flight transitions evolving from one formation to another mid-air. Flying on my back below the group, watching these multi-colored formations shift and stack, was breath-taking. Not just the formations themselves, but the sheer quality of flying on display-top-tier skills all around.

Canopy Fun and Evening Feasts

Even break off didn’t mark the end of the jumps. Sometimes a little canopy formation (CF) play would kick in, giving us a chance to stretch our fun just a little further. For me, this was the perfect opportunity to put my recently acquired Squirrel Omicron canopy to the test. Designed specifically for wingsuit flying, it delivered those perfect on-heading openings every time. And the flare what can I say? Awesome. Not only is it reliable, but it’s responsive and lets you have a bit of fun after your wingsuit flight.

Final Thoughts

WING Meet Vol.2 was everything you’d want from a wingsuit event: a stunning location, a chill atmosphere, and a group of skilled, friendly flyers who make you feel right at home. If you’re considering attending in the future, stop considering and just go. You won’t regret it.

Top event. Great people. Great flying. See you next year.
